A scientific group of the Faculty of Food Technologies of Sumy National Agrarian University took the second place in the XV All-Ukrainian competition of scientific developments “Zolotyi Kashtan”. The competition was dedicated to the problems of packaging industry in Ukraine.
A scientific group consisted of Dmytro Bidiuk, Oksana Melnyk and Tetiana Yarmosh, who investigated how freshly baked bread would be stored in a new biodegradable and in the ordinary polyethylene packaging.
“The packaging is made of a film according to a new FoodBIOPack technology. We used our native raw materials and developed a technology for obtaining packaging on the standard industrial equipment by extrusion method with blowing, – Dmytro Bidiuk said. – We baked bread and after cooling packed it both in a polyethylene package (currently used for bakery products) and in a new biodegradable package. We have stored packages at room temperature (+ 23 ° C) and in the refrigerator (+ 5 ° C) for 4 days. As a result: we haven’t seen any difference between two variants of packaging. The humidity in the polyethylene packaging fell relatively to the initial 9-15%, in BIO – by 11-17% on the 4th day (less in the refrigerator, more at room temperature) ” .
Sumy National Agrarian University sincerely congratulates scientists with good results and wishes further success and new bright and useful projects!
